Founded by Akosua Afriyie-Kumi, AAKS bags shine a spotlight on the beautiful weaving techniques of the women of Ghana. Each bag is handcrafted using ecologically harvested raffia from family farmers in Ghana, increasing awareness around ethical production and encouraging sustainable consumption.
No two AAKS bags are the same, but each embodies the bright, exuberant colours of Africa and holds to three tenets of design - critical attention to craftsmanship, ethical and sustainable values, and a high-quality finished product in small product runs.
Each collection tells a different story through shape, colour and detail, and Akosua is involved in the process at every stage of design and manufacture. The result is a sustainable bag imbued with spirit and soul.
