Is Sophie Summer a real person?
Sophie Summer is a brand, named after our founder's daughter, Sophia, and their favourite season of the year, summer. You can read more about founder Josefina Villanueva Alonso and the story of Sophie Summer on our About page.
Why should I buy from Sophie Summer?
Our bags are high-quality, carefully curated by our team who have discriminating taste and are biased towards impeccably made handbags. These are handbags you won't find anywhere else. We are passionate about discovering the most beautiful handbags from all over the world traditionally crafted by expert artisans using materials that are unique and local to them. Our handbags are exquisitely stylish, and, by making a purchase, you are helping to sustain a steady income for these communities who live mostly in poor and developing countries.
Are your bags handmade?
Most of our bags are handmade. We embrace slow fashion and advocate keeping traditional handbag making methods alive.
From time to time, we may feature products which are not handmade but nonetheless fit our high standards of quality and innovation. This will be highlighted in the product description.
Do you have vegan friendly bags?
Yes. We are biased towards handbags whose main material is made of natural fibres as you can see in our collections. Our handwoven Chila Bags are vegan, as well as our plant leather collection Luxtra. Our product descriptions specify the materials used in each bag.
Can I pay using PayPal?
Yes, we accept all major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal. You can find more information on our payments and shipping page.
Where does my shipment come from?
Most of our bags are shipped from our warehouse in the UK to you. Once the bags are made and shipped from their country of origin (e.g. Colombia), they make their way to our headquarters in England for quality control to ensure you receive only the highest quality of products. Some of our bags that have already been under quality control are shipped straight from the country of origin to minimise our carbon footprint.
I'm excited! How long will I have to wait for my bag to arrive?
UK shipping takes 2-5 business days, and up to 15 days internationally. Please note that, since most of our handbags are handmade, production and dispatch time may vary. Find out more on our payments and shipping page.
My bag still hasn't arrived, how do I get in touch?
Please email us at email@example.com if your order is taking longer than expected. There could be circumstances beyond our control such as postal service disruptions, etc. but we will do our best to track it down for you.
Do I have to pay duty when my order arrives in my country?
If your shipping address is outside the UK, your order may be liable for additional duties and taxes imposed by the local customs office, which is beyond our control. This is usually charged directly by the shipping service provider and customers are responsible for paying this. Failure to settle duty may result in your order being delayed or returned to our warehouse in the UK. If you have questions on this, please contact your local customs office.
The bag I wanted is now out of stock, can I order it anyway?
Yes. If you are willing to wait, then we will try to re-stock the bag that you want. As our bags are handmade, only a small number of the same design are made, therefore producing more of the same design may take some time. However, there are bags that cannot be easily reproduced once they've sold out. You can keep up to date with new releases and exclusive discounts via social media or by subscribing to our newsletter. Do you use plastic-free packaging?
We strive to be as plastic-free as possible. We try to use only eco-friendly materials and as minimal packaging as possible without losing the beauty of your unboxing experience. We are mindful with our packaging as we are with our products. However, bubble wraps and other protective packaging are used at absolute necessity especially for delicately made handbags to ensure that you receive it in excellent condition.
How do I keep my bag in the best condition?
Due to the delicate nature of most of our bags, each purchase will arrive with a set of instructions on how best to keep your Sophie Summer bag looking its best.
How can I return an item?
We hope that you love your bag and it has put a smile on your face.
However, if there is an issue, you can contact us immediately via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll do our best to make it right. If, for some other reason, you want to return what you purchased, you can refer to our return policy here. Unfortunately, we do not currently offer free returns.
